Mike and Amber have always been animal lovers. Amber was raised with dogs, cats, bunnies, cows, horses, etc. Mike’s childhood was similar, paired with an active career in 4-H. Mike loved showing his animals in 4-H, a skill that brought him quickly to the show ring when he and Amber began their journey into raising and breeding show-quality Greater Swiss Mountain Dogs.

Shortly after they got married, they began researching what breed of dog to get as their first dog together. After learning about Greater Swiss Mountain Dogs from a show on Animal Planet, they sought out a breeder in Kentucky called Derby Swissies. There, they purchased their first GSMD, Derby’s Kaiserin “Inga”. Derby Swissies invited Mike and Amber to show Inga in a dog show at the Kentucky Horse Park, and the rest, as they say, is history.

Mike began showing Inga, and later Rina’s Crowned Queen V Derby “Queenie”. Mike and Amber enjoyed the camaraderie they found at the dog shows and eventually grew their pack and began breeding Greater Swiss Mountain Dogs and then opened a kennel on their property.
